I’m especially fond of Mary’s paintings with the distinct arched frames, they reminded me of church windows. When she invited me into her home studio in Occidental I was enthralled. This is where the magic happens! Imagine my joy to be able to purchase one of her magical mystical paintings and to display it in my home!  The piece I have in my bedroom is clearly a landscape, with earth and sky. Mary’s pieces have a distinct look, otherworldly, yet anchored in something visceral and real and connected to the earth. The colors are both bold and delicately wrought, they flow and merge together. It seems lit from within.  The distinctive gold frame holds it all together perfectly. It is just  big enough for me to imagine that I could enter into this arched window into another realm.  If I floated up, and turned my body sideways I could be transported there. This piece of art is a source of pride, I love to point it out to my guests. Sloan Gorman
